The purposes of the society are:
- To establish and conduct a non-profit organization to search for and rescue, when requested, lost or injured persons, primarily in the vicinity of Squamish, British Columbia.
- To secure and maintain equipment for such purposes.
- To promote and effect education in outdoor safety and survival for its members and the community.
- To ensure the care, education and general emergency preparedness for the Squamish area.
- To provide emergency social services for: i) people in need following an emergency in this community, ii) the people evacuated to this community from other disaster areas, iii) for disaster relief workers.
- To act as a resource and support group for all first responders in any local emergency.
- To conduct activities that will fund the society in carrying out its purposes.
- To cooperate with other organizations with similar purposes.
